Terms of Service
Last updated: August 26, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the SlimBooks mobile application, our website at getslimbooks.com — where you can sign in, subscribe, manage your billing, and delete your account — and all related services and APIs (collectively, the “Service”), provided by Indie CFO LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account, subscribing, or using the Service in any of those places, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using SlimBooks, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
Description of Service
SlimBooks is a bookkeeping tool for solopreneurs that helps you organize and categorize business transactions and generate expense reports for tax preparation.
SlimBooks is a software tool only. We do not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. The reports and categorizations generated by the Service are for informational purposes, and you are solely responsible for the accuracy of any tax filings or financial decisions you make based on them. Consult a qualified professional for advice specific to your situation.
Accounts and Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. SlimBooks is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to sign up.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to purchase a subscription or connect a bank account. Both are contracts, and connecting a bank requires an account you own and control.
- You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep it up to date, including a working email address — that is where we send billing and service notices.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us promptly at gustavo@getslimbooks.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
Plans and Pricing
SlimBooks is offered in the following plans:
- Manual — free. There is no charge, but it is still a real subscription: you go through checkout at $0 so that a plan is attached to your account. Manual does not include bank connections.
- Autopilot — $12 per month. Includes automatic bank syncing for up to 2 connected banks.
- Total — unlimited bank connections. This plan is not yet available for purchase, and pricing will be shown when it launches.
Paid plans can be billed monthly or annually. The price, billing interval, and any applicable tax that apply to you are the ones displayed at checkout before you confirm, and those control if they ever differ from this page.
The bank-connection limits above are part of what you are buying, and we enforce them. If you reach the limit for your plan, we will decline additional bank connections until you upgrade. If your plan ends, existing connections are removed — see Bank Connections below.
Free Trial
We may offer a free trial on a paid plan. If we do, these terms apply and we want them to be unambiguous:
- The length of the trial is shown at checkout before you confirm. Trials are offered at our discretion and we may change or withdraw the offer at any time for people who have not yet started one.
- A payment method is required to start a trial. You give us a card up front. You are not charged while the trial is running.
- Trials are for first-time subscribers only. If you have previously subscribed to or trialed SlimBooks, you are not eligible, and checkout will show you the regular price instead.
- The trial converts to a paid subscription automatically. When it ends, the card you provided is charged for the plan and billing interval you selected, and the subscription renews from there until you cancel.
- We ask our payment processor to email a reminder to the address on your account before the trial ends. Please don’t rely on it alone — the trial end date is always shown in the billing portal.
- Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged. You can cancel at any point during the trial from the billing portal, and you keep trial access until the trial period runs out.
Subscriptions and Billing
- Payment: Subscriptions are billed through our payment processor, Stripe. It is the only way to buy SlimBooks today. Checkout and billing management happen on Stripe’s own pages, and we never receive or store your full card number. You authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for the plan and interval you select, plus any applicable tax.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period — monthly plans every month, annual plans every year — at the then-current price, unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Cancellation: You can cancel at any time from the Stripe billing portal, which you reach from the account page on our website or from Settings in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep paid features until then, and the remainder of the period is not refunded.
- Plan changes: Upgrades, downgrades, and switches between monthly and annual billing happen in the same billing portal. Upgrades take effect right away; downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Failed payments: If a payment fails we may retry it, and we may suspend paid features, including bank syncing, until it succeeds. If the subscription ultimately lapses it ends, and the consequences described under Bank Connections apply.
- Price changes: We may change subscription pricing with advance notice. Price changes apply at your next renewal, and if you do not want to pay the new price you can cancel before it takes effect.
Refunds
For subscriptions billed through Stripe, payments are non-refundable — including partial billing periods, and periods in which you did not use the Service. That said, we may issue a refund at our discretion: if you think something went wrong, email us and we will look at it honestly.
If you ever purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, we cannot refund it. Those refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, and you have to request them there.
None of this limits any refund, cancellation, or withdrawal right you have under the law where you live. In particular, consumers in the EU and the UK may have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days, though that right can end once you have asked us to start providing the Service immediately and we have done so. Contact us and we will honor whatever the law requires.
Purchases Through the App Store or Google Play
Subscriptions are currently sold only through Stripe. If we later offer subscriptions as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the following applies to those purchases:
- Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price for the plan you selected.
- You manage and cancel store-billed subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings, not by contacting us. We cannot cancel, change, or refund them on your behalf, and deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Apple. If you obtain SlimBooks from the App Store, these Terms are between you and Indie CFO LLC only — not Apple — and Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. We grant you a non-transferable license to use SlimBooks on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If SlimBooks fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to SlimBooks, including product liability claims, any claim that it fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar legislation, nor for the investigation, defense, settlement, or discharge of any third-party intellectual property claim. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
Google Play. If you obtain SlimBooks from Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service. Purchases, renewals, cancellations, and refunds for anything bought through Google Play are governed by Google’s policies and handled in your Google Play account.
Bank Connections and Imported Data
- SlimBooks lets you connect bank accounts through Plaid, a third-party service. Your use of Plaid is subject to Plaid's own terms and privacy policy.
- Linking a bank requires two-factor authentication on your SlimBooks account. You will be asked to set up a second factor and pass it before the connection can be made. If you sign in with Apple, Apple's own two-factor requirement covers this.
- How many banks you can connect depends on your plan, as set out under Plans and Pricing above.
- Bank connections are revoked automatically when a paid subscription ends. Bank syncing is a paid feature, so if you cancel, downgrade to the free Manual plan, or let a subscription lapse after a failed payment, we remove your bank connections at Plaid and delete them from our systems. Transactions already imported stay in your account; new ones stop arriving. To resume syncing you will need an eligible plan and you will need to link the bank through Plaid again.
- You can disconnect a bank yourself at any time in Settings, which revokes our access at Plaid.
- You may also import transaction data via CSV files. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to import any data you provide and for its accuracy.
- We do not guarantee that transaction data retrieved from your financial institutions is complete, accurate, or timely. Bank connections can break without warning when an institution changes its systems. Always verify important figures against your official bank records.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without our written permission
Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, logos, and content (excluding your data), is owned by Indie CFO LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own business purposes. You retain all rights to the transaction data and other content you provide to the Service.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. You should maintain your own records of important financial information.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SlimBooks shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Termination and Account Deletion
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app or from the account page on our website. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and your data from our systems, with the limited exceptions described in our Privacy Policy. If you have an active subscription you can choose to delete immediately — which cancels the subscription right away and forfeits any remaining paid time without a refund — or at the end of your billing period, in which case your data remains until that period ends and the deletion then completes on its own.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that could cause harm to us or others. Where practical, we will provide notice before termination.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination do survive it, including Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Governing Law and Venue, and the General terms below.
Governing Law and Venue
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the Service, are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and Indie CFO LLC agree that the state and federal courts located in Wyoming have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there. If you are a consumer living outside the United States, nothing here deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence, or of any right you have under those laws to bring proceedings in your local courts.
General
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of these Terms will remain in full force.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Indie CFO LLC regarding the Service, and they supersede any earlier agreements or understandings on that subject.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision of these Terms, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms, or your account, without our written consent. We may assign these Terms to an affiliate, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets.
Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by something outside our reasonable control, including outages at our hosting, banking, payment, or data providers, network or internet failures, natural disasters, epidemics, labor disputes, war, or government action.
Notices. We give you notice by emailing the address on your account, or by posting in the app or on this website; a notice counts as received when we send or post it, so please keep your email address current. You give us notice by emailing gustavo@getslimbooks.com, or by writing to Indie CFO LLC at the mailing address we will provide on request.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
